Changing Technology

A few years ago, we used to buy prepaid internet cards to get connected with the world through internet. The speed of those connections was ten times slower than that of modern DSL or wireless internet. I used to download themes and pictures, which took hours to download even a single picture or theme, but still we loved it.

Today, we can download GB (s) of files in just a few minutes, can video chat with anyone; anywhere in the world, can get directions to any place which we don't know without stopping our cars halfway and asking people about the directions. The fact is that Technology has changed totally in the last few years. Monster size computers were replaced by small efficient computers, and then laptops replaced small size computers which were then replaced by tablets and smart phones.

Moreover, the wise invention of android Technology has also made our lives easier; An   Android is an operating system designed for tablets and smart phones with a financial and Technological support of Google Inc. It has enabled users to stay in touch with friends and family, watch movies, read books, manage mails, listen to the music, play games and much more on just a small mobile phone.

Scientists say that in next few years, people will be able to do most of their house works for example: cooking, switching on and off electronic appliances, door locks, and much more, through smart phones, which will be another achievement.

Still, everyone is not happy with it. Yesterday, I met a 56 years old bank manager who seemed to be a bit annoyed with these Technological changes. “I wonder whether all this new Technology is really making our lives easier. It seems to me that we’ve created a vicious circle. It’s mind-bogging the way Technology is changing! No sooner do I get my head around something newer, then it changes again and it is difficult for me to learn new Technology things at this age” he said.

This man is also right. All of us can’t afford to learn things that change every other day but still I think we should go with the flow, whether we like it or not and adopt these significant Technological changes.

  1. The year was 1986 and I was just promoted to class 4 in 'The Fazlehaq College Mardan' and it was there that I first came across this word 'Computer Science' which was under the heading 'subject' in our class time table .Finally on Thursday we took our first class of computer science in the computer lab.we saw small tv like screens with a unit which seemed like a tape recorder with IBM written on it.our teacher who was an American graduate took some magnetic tapes out and did his first demonstration. The screens went on but we could not understand a single thing on that screen. Then came basic language and I remember writing 100 commands just to make a suare in graphics. Then came the 5.5 inch floppy disk followed by 3.5 inch if I am not wrong. Then we saw 486 and then pictures of Bill gates in some journals use to come regulary. Finally windows and 586 and the world of internet. There was only one internet café in Islamabad with the name Cyber café and we use to call for booking our seat and the charges were 360/- Rs per hour. The whole world was changed.mujtaba, then came that prepaid card....
